Our Activities
Adventure is at the heart of Troop 1175! We believe in the power of the outdoors to teach resilience, teamwork, and essential survival skills. Whether it’s camping in the snow, navigating mountain trails, or spending nights under the stars, our Scouts experience the thrill of nature year-round. From Deep Freeze survival camping to our annual summer camp at Camp Mattatuck, every trip is designed to challenge and inspire.
Scouting is about building strong, capable leaders. Our Junior Leader Training Program pushes Scouts to develop teamwork, problem-solving, and survival skills in the rugged terrain of the wilderness. For those who strive for the ultimate challenge, The Valkyrie – our most elite team – learn advanced survival tactics, rescue techniques, and leadership strategies, earning a reputation as the “Best of the Best.”
Service is a cornerstone of Scouting. Troop 1175 is dedicated to making a positive impact in Simsbury and beyond. From building trails and maintaining public spaces to fundraising for global initiatives, our Scouts embody the principle that a Scout is helpful. We’ve assisted disaster relief efforts, constructed community projects, and even organized service missions to places like Puerto Rico.
Each year, our most experienced Scouts embark on once-in-a-lifetime global adventures that push their skills and leadership to the next level. From sailing the U.S. Virgin Islands to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, our Scouts take on the world’s greatest challenges. Whether navigating the wilderness, diving into new cultures, or mastering survival techniques, these expeditions forge lifelong memories and an unshakable spirit of adventure.
Testimonial
As an Assistant Scoutmaster and proud father of a First Class Scout, I’ve loved watching Troop 1175 challenge young people through high adventure, build real-world confidence, and develop professional communication with leaders from diverse backgrounds. The support from our dedicated adult leaders is unmatched, and I’m excited to see how Troop 1175 continues to strengthen its community in the years ahead.
